Advocacy

International Student Survey (ISS)

UMSU International conducts an annual survey to investigate the conditions that support and hamper the wellbeing of international students at the University of Melbourne. Assessing a range of factors including accommodation, finances, food, and academics, we create a comprehensive report to see what the University can do to better-accommodate the needs of its international students.

See the 2022 and 2023 ISS Reports here.

Issue-related questions

We occasionally receive questions from students or interested parties asking about what policies UMSU International has about certain issues, and what actions we plan to take on such issues. Often these questions can be related to allowing international student travel back into Australia,  getting a WAM Amnesty from the University, affordability of studies at the University racism on campus, sexism on campus, safety on campus. Contact us at umsuinternational@union.unimelb.edu.au and we can help assist you in getting the help you need!

Personal issues

If you have a personal problem, it could be related to their visa, to academic misconduct, financial hardship, legal hardship, personal safety. Please contact UMSU's Advocacy and legal Services, as they are best equipped to help your issue. Their email is: suashelp@union.unimelb.edu.au.
